Gypsy moths are probably the most famous exotic invasive forest pest in the eastern United States. Beginning several years ago, these pests which defoliate and weaken our oak resource, began to reemerge as a threat to New Jersey's forests.
Severe defoliations in consecutive years leads to tremendous losses of oaks and the commercial and wildlife values that they provide.
From December to February, we can conduct gypsy moth egg mass surveys to help predict whether or not an infestation will occur during the approaching summer.
We can then provide the landowner with contact information for licensed, insured aerial pesticide applicators.
